LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR BOLLING STATEMENT ON DEATH OF OLIVER W. HILL
Monday, August 06, 2007
Richmond - Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling issued the following statement on the death of Oliver W. Hill.
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Oliver W. Hill. Virginia mourns the loss of a great leader and patriot. During tumultuous times in the mid-20th century, Oliver Hill was brave enough to stand up and speak out in support of justice for those who had been denied their God-given right of equality for too long. His battle to end segregation expanded well beyond public education, and led to a renaissance of Virginia culture. While his soul has moved on, his legacy will remain with us for generations to come."
