Richmond - Jean Ann Bolling, wife of Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, today addressed attendees at an event marking the 80th anniversary of Bill's Barbecue. The event took place at the Myers Street location in Richmond, VA. Mrs. Bolling congratulated the restaurant chain on 80 years as a successful Virginia business.
"The recipe behind the famous barbecue hasn't changed since 1930 and you can always count on the limeade and chocolate pie. Their family approach to business shines through with customers. One good example is a gentleman who eats breakfast nearly every day at Bill's Barbecue on Myers Street. If he doesn't show up, someone is calling to check on him. By demanding nothing but the best for customers and treating them like family, a loyal customer base has been formed."
Jean Ann Bolling was joined at the event by President of Bill's Barbecue Rhoda Elliot, President of Richmond Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau John F. Berry, Jr. and Virginia's Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Trade Carrie Cantrell.
"As we all know, small business is the backbone of our economy and Bill's Barbecue is a perfect example of what entrepreneurship and customer service can do to create and sustain a business for 80 years. Even in these tough economic times, Bill's Barbecue was willing to invest and open a ninth location. They provide employment to over 80 people in the Richmond area and serve countless satisfied customers every day. Their commitment to the community speaks for itself," said Bolling.
