Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears on United States Supreme Court's Ruling
RICHMOND, VA – Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears released the following statement after the United States Supreme Court granted an emergency stay ensuring election integrity in the Commonwealth:
“As an immigrant and a naturalized citizen of our great country, I am personally grateful for this decision that upholds the rule of law. Voting is one of the most fundamental rights we have as Americans and this decision is essential in protecting the rights of naturalized citizens and all Americans.
“We are thankful for today’s decision by the Supreme Court ensuring commonsense and election fairness. Politically motivated lawsuits have become far too common under the Biden-Harris Administration. Today’s decision rightfully maintains that only American citizens are allowed to be on voter rolls and to cast ballots in the Commonwealth.
“Thank you to Attorney General Jason Miyares and his office for this critical fight in protecting the right to vote in free, fair, and secure elections. Virginians can have ease casting their ballots on Election Day and complete confidence our elections are free from politically-motivated interference.”
